Study of Thermal Infrared Imaging

August 15th, 2010

The past few years has witnessed an amazing development in the areas of science and technology. There have been some amazing discoveries that are highly beneficial for mankind. New technologies and processes have been discovered that will enable a safe and secure environment. The development of new technologies has impacted the way engineering designs are developed.

Nowadays, the designs are a lot more complex than the designs of the earlier era which were simple and less complicated. Today’s designs need to pack more power per square centimeter. Since this makes it very difficult to take accurate measurements for building complex structures as well as take measurements of moving objects, more individuals and firms are turning towards thermal infrared imaging.

Thermal infrared imaging helps measure the temperatures of different kinds of surface. This technology was first used in the Korean War and later on was developed for a variety of military applications. Later on this technology was used for developing infrared detector for tracking and intelligence gathering.

By using this technology in developing advanced weapons guidance systems, the security of a nation is enhanced to a large extent. Next, infrared imaging technology is found to be useful in the development of surveillance and intrusion systems that have been in great demand with defense establishments the world over.

One of the major reasons why countries and defense establishments prefer infra red technology over others is due to its ability to see through any kind of atmosphere. This means you can take images in pitch black conditions, foggy conditions, smoky conditions, etc.

Resnet Training for a certified Home Energy Rater

August 3rd, 2010

Residential Energy Services Network or Resnet Training is given to candidates who are aspiring to become certified Home Energy Rater. This training is applicable to professionals like builders, architects and other officials in the construction field. This training gives an additional exposure and acts as a major credential. These candidates are trained and supervised by the Energy Star Home Energy Raters. They provide training to potential building partners who are aiming at an Energy Star Certification.

These certified Energy Raters will be able to rate the homes according to the energy efficiency. The main aim of Resnet is to ensure that the buildings are of standards and are of good quality. After successful completion of Resnet Training the candidates get a Resnet Certification. The Energy raters ensure that they encourage high performance buildings. The Resnet standards have been adopted by many industries. The mortgage industry recognizes those buildings which are energy efficient and grants loans on such property only.

It is one of the criteria that have been set by many financial institutions, that the property be an Energy Star rated property. If this criterion is fulfilled, the mortgage loan is approved. The Federal Government also has introduced Federal tax incentives, Energy Star Program or the Home Star Program which is executed by the Environment Protection Agency and the US Building America Program by the US Department of Energy. Many people have started their Green career with the Resnet Training and this Certification is definitely one of the Revenue streams for them.

Thermography training for aspiring green associates

June 5th, 2010

The thermography training is helpful for a company to proceed with an infrared inspection program. The technological advancement had proved that infrared equipment is user friendly.

The thermographers will not only understand the object or the system that is being inspected but also avoid common errors that will influence such observation or inspection. This training will cover the topics of infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, equipment selection and operation, eliminating common error source, overcoming such errors and specific applications.

The homeowners and business owners who try to attempt thermal imaging will not be able to come to right conclusion because they are not trained. The structural thermal imaging professionals will be able to properly interpret the readings and hence will be able to recommend measure to increase efficiency and reduce costs. These certified professionals will be well trained in thermography and also be certified by the ISO.

There are three levels in Thermography training. Level 1 qualified trainer is certified to perform industrial thermographic measurements and basic infrared thermography according to recognized procedures.

A Level 2 qualified thermographer is qualified to perform direct infrared thermography to establish recognized procedures. A Level 3 qualified thermographer is qualified to perform all direct thermographic measurements and analysis.

The basic eligibility for Level 1 is to complete 40 hours of training under an approved program with a pass percent of 75%. The candidate should have worked as an active thermographer for at least 12 months. He or she must have at least 400 hours of cumulative experience in thermography. These criteria changes from a level to level.

Resnet Training for a bright career

May 26th, 2010

The Resnet Training is usually pursued by Raters who are the professionals who rate the buildings pre and post installation of the Home star Products. These raters have to undergo a training program and then give a Resnet National rates test which is basically an online test with 50 multiple choice questions. The test is an open book test and the candidates have 2 hours to complete it. The concepts are on building science and rating procedures.

The raters immediately get the success percentage after the test. The candidate has to get a minimum of 80% to become a qualified rater. There is a directory of accredited rater training providers where you can enroll yourself and become eligible to take the test.

The categories of questions are building science and heat transfer, building diagnostics, air distribution leakage, calculating gross and net area, energy terminology, energy units, health and safety, envelope leakage, insulation, equipment efficiency, comfort problems, household appliances, door and window efficiency, etc.

The Resnet Training is mandatory for candidates who wish to become the Rating Field Inspectors. The candidates also need to pass a National Rating Field Inspector test administered by RESNET. This Test was developed by professionals who have had prior experience in the rating industry. The nation wide rating provider and training providers have designed the categories for the test.

You will also be assisted with the Resnet Rater test study guide that is available online. There is lot of information on this guide and you can familiarize yourself and prepare for the test in advance.

Interesting and exciting Thermal imaging training

May 15th, 2010

Thermal imaging was primarily used during the Korean War and now the thermographic cameras have slowly come to the fields of medicine and archeology. A candidate who is undergoing Thermal Imaging training can be a professional from Astronomy, Firefighting, Military and Police, Law enforcement, etc.

And most importantly can be a possible candidate for Energy auditing of Building Insulation and detection of refrigerant leaks, Roof inspection, Moisture detection in walls and roofs, Pollution effluent detection, Masonry wall structural analysis, etc.

The thermal images or theromograms are visual displays of the amount of infrared energy emitted, transmitted and reflected by the object. There are multiple sources of infrared energy and hence it is difficult to get an accurate temperature of any object.

The best thing about thermal imaging camera is that is performs algorithms to interpret data and build an image. The Camera determines the value rather than detecting the temperature of the surroundings.

In the Thermal Imaging training, the candidate will be trained on the basic formula of Incident Energy which is a combination of Emitted Energy, Transmitted Energy and Reflected Energy.

The basic idea is to differentiate emitted energy from the other types of energy. This is what is to be measured by the thermographer.

The thermographer must be able to determine whether the object is radiating higher temperature than desired and when compared to the surroundings.

There might be different systems which emit cool temperature and the other hot temperature. It is the duty of the thermographer to strike a balance and get the accurate results from Thermal Imaging.

Thermography training – heat waves handled

April 30th, 2010

When scientists and energy professionals screamed out a doomsday possibility most of us shrugged away the predictions as novice and paranoid but as time passed we have realized that climate change and global warming are hitting us below the belt real hard. We know that unless we become more energy efficient and energy wise there is no hope for a future that is sustainable.

This is where the relevance and the need for professionals who have good Thermography Training come in to play. Thermography Training is a concept that deals with aspects such as insulation, heating equipments, using of infrared cameras, collecting quality data, interpreting thermograms and the like.

Thermography Training assures that the professional is well equipped to handle predictive and monitoring aspects of thermal energy audits and is also able to make a difference to the energy efficiency of a building with the training he has received.

The sessions on Thermography Training include theoretical and practical exposure to concepts of thermography and infrared, the inclusion of sessions on field work and ensure that any professional who has undergone Thermography Training is well aware of real life situations.

With energy efficiency being given the impetus it is given in our times the relevance and scope of Thermography Training is ever expanding and rightly so. If you want to make a difference to the planet you live in and your career as a professional Thermography Training is the best way forward for a clean and green environment.
