category: Residential Energy author: resnett

How are RESNET standards formulated?

The following are the steps in brief:

1)      RESNET accepts new proposals from interested parties for new or revised standards provisions

2)      A thorough study and research is carried on – from the proposals received

3)      Based on the study – RESNET’s Standing Committee along with the Board of Directors review the proposed standard reviews – either to accept or modify or deny

4)      Once the proposed standards have been accepted by one and all – these are hosted on the RESNET’s website for a month’s time – to reach general public and comment for

5)      RESNET’s standing committee and Board of Directors reconcile any additional comments made by public or changes to the already proposed standards already formulated

6)      Voting procedure among Board of Directors is held based up on the recommendations of the standing committee

7)      Finalized set of standard provisions are put before RESNET Standards revision committee for approval

Raters Certification:

To be a certified rater, one must emphasize on the skill sets defined by RESNET Standards and be up-to-date with its knowledge base. 1)      Candidates must pass online test which is carried out on a nationwide basis

2)      Candidates must perform 2 ratings in the presence of a RESNET Certified rater trainer

3)      Under the supervision of the Providers Quality Assurance Designee (QAD) – rater candidate mey then be certified by RESNET accredited rating provider after completing 3 probationary ratings
